Dear prospective member,

We're delighted about your interest in The Capital Press Club (CPC), an umbrella association committed to increasing and supporting the role and presence of African-Americans in communications. The stronger you are the stronger we are. Your membership represents the a mutually beneficial relationship that not only boosts CPC, but your career, community, and field. Please note, we are not in competition with our sister communications organizations. For example, if you are a journalist, you should have membership with
Washington Association of Black Journnalists, as well as, CPC. If you are a public relations professional, we encourage you to also hold membership with The Black Public Relations Society, DC. In addition, we encourage all to support your local chapters of the the NAACP, and NUL. "True strength comes from a family or a community of like minded individuals. There will be no strength in us collectively, if we all stand apart," Derrick Kenny, president of CPC.

Founded in 1944, we continue to be an association of change... of progress exhibited by our forefathers who established The Capital Press Club when African-Americans were not permitted as members of the National Press Club and other communications organizations. Through the years our mission has been and remains to expose African-American communications professionals to newsmakers and communications leaders who shape our world as we ensure our members remain professionally competitive in this ever-changing highly-technical marketplace.

Networking opportunities include monthly NewsMaker Forums, receptions, professional development workshops and seminars and a host of other activities and programs.

Through our e-mail alerts, you will be notified of current career opportunities, communications events, and hot tips. These same opportunities will also be posted on our web site and in our quarterly newsletter, CPComm.

We're committed to investing in our members' future and that includes you. Please complete the membership application and return it to us. On behalf of The Capital Press Club, WELCOME! Membership is $55 through December 2007.

Thank you for joining,
Kevin Briscoe
CPC President
