COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

COMMUNITY AND STUDENT OUTREACH
The Community and Student Outreach Committee is the humanitarian arm of The Capital Press Club and maintains positive liaisons with civic and community organizations in developing programs where The Capital Press Club can provide pro bono services in furthering the initiatives and concerns of those respective organizations. In addition, it is responsible for creating viable communications channels linking The Capital Press Club to high schools, colleges and universities.

FINANCE
The Finance Committee oversees the fiduciary responsibilities of The Capital Press Club and prepare recommendations for the Executive Board and the Board of Trustees. The Treasurer serve as Chairman of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee sts of the President, the First Vice President, the Second Vice President, and the Treasurer.

FUND RAISING/DEVELOPMENT
The Fund Raising and Development Committee seeks funding for The Capital Press Club¹s many activities, events and programs. This committee develops relationships with corporations, individuals and foundations in order to generate revenue for programmatic initiatives.

MEMBERSHIP
The Membership Committee is the customer-oriented, people-driven arm of The Capital Press Club. Individuals who serve on this committee are committed to ensuring that the strength and viability of The Capital Press Club is fostered by having an on-going relationship with current members while facilitating the enrollment of new members.

NOMINATIONS
The Nominations Committee conducts the annual elections of The Capital Press Club¹s governing body. They are also charged with coordinating and overseeing the Annual Induction Ceremony of Officers and Board Members.

PROGRAM
The Program Committee is responsible for the development, coordination and management of The Capital Press Club¹s monthly NewsMaker Forums, the annual picnic, and the annual Christmas Party.

PUBLIC RELATIONS
The Public Relations Committee protects the overall image of The Capital Press Club. They are responsible for acting as gatekeepers for disseminating information to the media and other interested audiences. The Public Relations Committee develops the annual public relations strategic agenda, which positions The Capital Press Club as the premiere organization representing the needs and concerns for African-American communications professionals.

PUBLICATIONS
The Publications Committee is responsible for the writing, design and production of all printed materials for the Capital Press Club. Such materials include the quarterly newsletter, promotional brochures and flyers, sponsor kits, membership kits, and other marketing communications tools as identified by The Capital Press Club Executive Board. Members that have experience in layout, design, copy editing and production are specifically encouraged to serve on this committee although all members are welcome who have an interest in this area. Article submissions are also encouraged for The Capital Press Club¹s newsletter, CPComm.

WEB SITE
The Website Committee oversees The Capital Press Club¹s presence on the World Wide Web. This committee is responsible for managing the design, content, distribution, and promotion of the website.
